Yes, that is all my stuff piled in the middle of the room. I went in today to try and work and ended up leaving after an hour and a half of just staring at the mess. Let me explain- we are getting major renovation done to our bathrooms so the kindergarten/first grade hall is a MESS. So the custodians had to wait to wax our floors until it was okay to put our stuff in the hallway. Anyone seen that renovation dust... oh my goodness. The fantastic custodians talked to the nice construction men, and they decided they could do my room Tuesday... yay!
I have been working on some crafty projects outside of school, but man have I got some work to do. My main project this summer has been my classroom library. I am still searching for ideas so if you have a post for a cute classroom library... give me a link or point me in the right direction on Pinterest ( my new obsession)!
Don't forget to enter the giveaway here! The giveaway is for THREE great books!

You are so lucky that you can get in your room over the summer. They took away our keys!!!! I can't get back in until the week before school starts. My family and friends say this is good for me but they don't understand how crazy it makes me! Good luck with your library - I would love to show you mine but . . . I'm not allowed in my room to take pics!

Took away your keys??? That is bonkers! Love your new blog!!
ReplyDeleteKatie- you are very lucky to have nice custodians to do this for you!
ReplyDelete@ Kristin! They do exactly the same thing at my school AND they cancel some of the insurance so we are not allowed to be there until August 15! It's crazy and I hate not having my key!
My room has been the same for 2 years, both years they have done some sort of remodeling....This year replastered a wall...but I was made to take all but the furniture home with me....But I go in for summer reading...So next Tuesday I am going to check on my room...last I heard it was a disaster...Now for your question ...do you subscribe to all your blogs in Google reader? If so search for classroom library in search at top of Google Reader! If not let me know I will on mine and send you a list :)
ReplyDeleteI understand! I make myself stay away from school in June. They are waxing the halls and floors, etc. anyway. But, the first day I go back to really "work" in my classroom -- well, I end up standing in the middle of the room staring at the mess for about an hour. I'll move a few things, then I have to leave. I'm totally overwhelmed. Then a day or two later I can go back with my "game face" and make progress. Such is a teacher's life!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

I am also in the process of fixing my library. It is a lot of work, I went online to find all the reading levels then made stickers for every book. I now I just have to make the buckets and labels for all the books.
ReplyDeleteWe can't get into our room until they have waxed all the floors usually beginning of August and I can't wait seeing I have to set up a new room. Good luck
You all totally make me think I'm whining! Finding some great classroom libraries through google reader and pinterest!
ReplyDeleteOoh I saw a great blog yesterday but can't remember who's lol. But I know they got labels for their baskets from Ladybug Files. I just blog hop for great ideas :)

For most working class American families, living the American dream implied utilization not funds, with the possibility that "he who kicks the bucket with the most toys wins". Has this generally been an awful thing? My answer, obviously, would need to be that it didn't use to be. Payday Loans San-diego
